July Opportunities from Family Office Access

Somehow it’s July already.

The first half of the year has brought a lot of change across the Family Office landscape. Conversations that once centered primarily on investments are increasingly expanding to include governance, succession, trust, and long-term relationship-building.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to speak with families, founders, advisors, and institutional partners at events, interviews, and member meetings. Although each conversation was different, many returned to the same questions: How do we prepare the next generation? Who can we trust? How do we build relationships that create value over time?

This month’s newsletter brings together a few of those conversations, along with upcoming opportunities to continue learning together.

The biggest networking mistake at Family Office conferences happens before the event even begins.

Most people arrive without a strategy. They approach the wrong people, pitch too early, and leave with plenty of business cards—but very few meaningful relationships.

Join us on July 23 as AdaPia d’Errico and Melanie Legamaro share a practical framework for approaching Family Office events with greater intention and building relationships that continue long after the conference ends.

Featuring:

  • Prepare before attending
  • Identify who is actually in the room
  • Avoid credibility-killing mistakes
  • Build trust before making an ask
  • Turn introductions into lasting relationships

Featured Event

ELITE Private Wealth Summit | July 9-10 | San Fransisco

Members often ask me which conferences are worth attending.

My answer rarely changes. The value comes less from the conference itself and more from how intentionally you prepare for it.

JABOY Productions’ ELITE Private Wealth Summit brings together Family Offices, independent RIAs, investors, founders, and industry leaders for two days of meaningful conversations around wealth, investing, innovation, and leadership.

Featured speakers include Sheila B. Driscoll (Driscoll’s Family Office), Nicole Buffett, Alison Kosik, Ben Narasin, Brian Mac Mahon, Melinda Janko, and many more.

Before you arrive, invest an hour researching who you’d like to meet, preparing thoughtful questions, and deciding how you’ll follow up. The strongest relationships usually begin with genuine curiosity.

By invitation only. Space is limited.

Member Spotlight

One of my favorite parts of this community is highlighting members who are doing thoughtful work across the Family Office ecosystem.

This month, we are featuring Brendan Fenno of The Monolith Group.

Brendan works with Family Office principals and their advisors to raise structured liquidity for wealth transfer and legacy objectives from the bond market – without requiring families to disrupt existing investments or cash flow.

What makes his perspective especially valuable is that it is both lived and professional. As a third-generation member of a hospitality and real estate family, Brendan has experienced firsthand the dynamics families navigate around succession, governance, and legacy. Today, he applies that lens in his work, helping other families secure capital aligned with those same objectives.

“Our greatest responsibility is to be good ancestors. I’m focused on helping families think more institutionally about their estates – teaching them how liquidity can be raised and positioned to support generational intent without disrupting what is already working.”

Brendan welcomes thoughtful conversations with families and advisors navigating complex estate, liquidity, and generational planning decisions.

Thank you for being part of this community.

I appreciate the conversations, introductions, and ideas so many of you share throughout the year. They continue to shape the way we think about our programming, research, and the resources we create for members.

I hope to see many of you over the summer, and as always, I’d love to hear what you’re seeing across the Family Office landscape.

Warm regards,

Danielle Patterson
